Iowa Vocational-Technical Tuition Grant Reports

Expected Family Contribution (EFC)

Established in 1973, the Iowa Vocational-Technical Tuition Grant (IVTG) is a state grant program which provides need-based financial assistance to Iowa residents enrolled in career education (vocational-technical) and career option programs at Iowa community colleges. The chart shows minimum and maximum Expected Family Contribution (EFC) levels for IVTG recipients. Students with EFCs between the minimum and maximum EFC are eligible to receive IVTG awards. The EFC minimum ensures that IVTG program awards supplement federal Pell Grants, the formula awards smaller grants on a sliding scale to students with less need. (The EFC is a measure of a student's/family's ability to pay for education; it is the amount a student/family can be expected to contribute towards college costs as determined from information provided on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The lower a student's EFC, the greater the student's/family's need for financial aid.)
