Application for exemption under Iowa Code §261B.11 (1)(h)

 

Schools and educational programs conducted by religious organizations solely for the religious instruction of leadership practitioners of that religious organization.

1. Review the exemption application requirements and have all information ready to enter into the application before you begin.  The application preparation process may require you to identify links to  your website where you have posted policies required by the application questions below; or prepare text of policies and procedures that you will need to either 1) enter into textboxes associated with application questions below, or 2) submit as attachments to an email directed to the appropriate Iowa College Aid staff as indicated under each question.

3. Individual completing this application.

If no, the school must prominently disclose in all of its electronic, paper or verbal promotional statements, and on its enrollment agreement with the student, that it is not accredited, that credits earned at the school may not transfer to accredited schools and may not qualify students for employment.

If yes, provide the URL.

Your school does not qualify for this exemption.  You cannot complete this exemption application.

The school must submit documentation that includes its program descriptions for prospective students as an attachment to an email to lisa.pundt@iowa.gov.

8. The school must substantiate that the religious organization that sponsors the school recognizes the educational credential the school awards for leadership advancement within that religious organization.

The school must provide documentation as an attachment to an email directed to lisa.pundt@iowa.gov that the religious organization with which the school is affiliated recognizes the school as an educator of its leaders.

9. The school must substantiate that the religious organization has an established organizational structure that provides ample opportunity for leadership advancement.

10. The school must substantiate that it admits only members or congregants of the religious organization with which it is affiliated or the school makes clear on its website, in other promotional materials, and in its enrollment agreement that its educational purpose is to train leadership practitioners of the religious organization with which it is affiliated.
