Career Planning

What kind of job would you like to have after college? You don’t have to decide the rest of your life today, but spending some time planning for your future now will help you be more successful later. Now is the time to set your goals and figure out how to achieve them.

While you are in high school, you should explore your interests and identify your career goals. From there you will need to connect those goals to the education and training you will need to help make your dreams a reality. Iowa Choices, a free internet-based program available at your high school, can help.

Iowa Choices offers 5 different assessments to help match you to different careers, programs, and majors. Do you already have a career in mind? You can also search for a specific career and learn more about it.

Here are just some of the things you can do with Choices to help plan your future:

  • Connect yourself to careers by using assessments to help you find the career that's right for you.
  • Use the career finder to narrow down your search for a career by using the characteristics important to you.
  • Compare careers side-by-side.
  • Check out programs and majors that interest you.
  • Find out what type of education you will need for your chosen career.
