Student Assistantship Grant Program

The Student Assistantship Grant Program provides eligible Iowa colleges and universities with a $3,000 grant to hire a student assistant to help with default prevention and financial literacy strategies on their campuses. Student assistants connect with their peers by bringing a shared perspective and level of empathy that only fellow students can share. The Commission also provides the formal training and resources to help them do their jobs.

What can a Student Assistant do on your campus? Whatever you need! Here are some examples of past projects:
  • Newspaper articles
  • Delinquency letters
  • Grace period notices
  • Total debt updates
  • Presentations to student groups
  • Phone calls
  • Bulletin boards
  • Financial aid bazaars
  • Information booths
Colleges and Universities can join the program by completing the application form. Please contact Tracy Havener if you have questions about the Student Assistant Program.
