In addition to the scholarship programs offered through Iowa College Aid, there are many private scholarships available for students. Private scholarships are offered by businesses, civic organizations or religious groups. These scholarships are typically awarded to students based on specific criteria, such as academic success, extracurricular activities, leadership, community involvement and race or ethnicity. Please read below for more information regarding a few private scholarship programs. ACS Scholars Program

The American Chemistry Society awards renewable scholarships to underrepresented minority students who want to enter the fields of chemistry or chemistry-related fields. Awards of up to $5,000 are given to qualified students.  African American, Hispanic, or American Indian high school seniors or college freshman, sophomore, or juniors pursuing a college degree in the chemical sciences or chemical technology are eligible to apply.  Learn More

Lawrence and Marilyn Matteson Foundation Scholarship

12 scholarships of up to $2,000 each will be awarded to high school students who attend Central Lee, Danville, Fort Madison, Keokuk, Mediapolis, Mount Pleasant, New London, Waco, Wapello, and Winfield; and who pursue studies in medical technology, engineering and the technical trades. Read More

Renewable scholarship to first-generation college students and who enroll at a CSO College Partner. Read More

Leo H. Grether Memorial Scholarship in Choral Music Education

Scholarship awarded annually to a graduating Iowa high school senior who will be enrolling in college as a vocal music major. Read More

Dallas County Hospital Foundation Scholarships

A two-tiered scholarship program for students pursuing careers in healthcare. First tier offers scholarships to high school seniors, while second tier offers scholarships to college students entering their final year of study in a health-related field. Read More

Matthew Shepard Scholarship

Scholarship awarded to lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender Iowa students who demonstrate LGBT activism and community service and have a history of high moral and ethical standards and conduct. Read More

Disability Awareness Scholarship

National Federation of the Blind Scholarship Program

Recognize achievement by blind scholars. The National Federation of the Blind annually offers blind college students in the United States, the opportunity to win one of thirty national scholarships worth $3,000 to $12,000. Read More

Financial Services Roundtable - Financial Literacy Scholarship

Scholarship to honor students who have successfully completed a certified financial education or financial literacy course before entering college. The review committee will select 17 high school students to receive scholarships of $5,000 each. Read More

T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood Iowa Scholarship

Provides scholarships to child care teachers, directors, and child development home providers so they can earn a degree in early childhood education while remaining in a job in early childhood. Read More

GE - Reagan Foundation Scholarship Program

Renewable scholarship given to candidates who display exemplary leadership, drive, integrity and citizenship in all aspects of life. Read More

TG Charley Wootan Grant Program

For the 2013-14 academic year, TG's Charley Wootan Grant program will award grants totaling $5 million to students who are Texas residents. Grants will be split between students going to 2-year colleges or vocational schools and students enrolled at 4-year universities. Read More

Great Lakes National Scholarship

This scholarship program helps students majoring in a STEM (science, technology, engineering, or math) discipline. The Great Lakes National Scholarship offers up to 750 awards of $2,500 to new and continuing students who qualify. Read More

The Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Fund

The Asian & Pacific Islander American Scholarship Program awards scholarships to students of Asian and/or Pacific Islander descent who will be enrolling in a U.S. accredited college or university. Read More

Iowa Scholarship for the Arts

The Iowa Scholarship for the Arts supports the development of outstanding high school seniors who excel in the arts and are enrolled in accredited educational programs leading to careers in the arts. Read More

Scholarship is offered to a graduating Iowa high school student who will be enrolling in college as a music major. Read More

Iowa Farm Bureau Federation Scholarship

The Iowa Farm Bureau Federation will award 54 $1000 scholarships to students who are sons/daughters of Iowa Farm Bureau members and are pursuing the completion of a two or four year degree. The deadline to apply for the 2013 IFBF scholarship is March 1, 2013. Read More
