Iowa Disaster Relief Grant
The Iowa Disaster Relief Grant is a one-time, state-funded grant that will provide assistance of up to $5,000 to students impacted by the weather-related disasters that hit Iowa during the summer of 2008. The Iowa Disaster Relief Grant is administered by the Iowa College Student Aid Commission (Iowa College Aid).
Priority submission deadline is September 15, 2008. We are no longer accepting applications. All funding has been depleted.
To be eligible for the Iowa Disaster Relief Grant:
- You, your spouse, or a parent that you are financially dependent upon (as stated on your 2008-09 Free Application for Federal Student Aid - FAFSA) have been financially affected by a natural disaster in the state of Iowa during the spring or summer of 2008;
- You, your spouse, or a parent that you are financially dependent upon (as stated on your 2008-09 FAFSA) applied for Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) assistance and received documentation of damage;
- Must provide a verifiable FEMA case number and a copy of the certificate of damage or documentation of your FEMA award;
- You must be an Iowa resident;
- You must be enrolled (or planning to enroll) in at least 3 semester hours at an eligible Iowa college or university during the fall of 2008 or spring of 2009;
- You must be making satisfactory academic progress as defined by the college or university if you are already enrolled in college;
- You must complete and submit this application by September 15, 2008;
- You must file a 2008-09 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at www.fafsa.ed.gov;
- Other criteria as determined by Iowa College Aid.
